An entrepreneur who suffered a life-changing quad bike accident has called for a return to inclusive working that better supports disabled entrepreneurs.
Amelia Peckham started her business, Cool Crutches and Sticks, with her mother, Clare Braddell, in 2006 after suffering from severe hand blisters as a result of her NHS crutches, which led to delays in her physiotherapy treatment.
Their crutches and walking sticks have since been used by celebrity clients including Amanda Holden, Eamonn Holmes and Prue Leith.
Peckham, 36, said that finding and accessing support programmes for entrepreneurs was easier during the pandemic when “support for founders became entirely flexible, it was digital, it was downloadable and it was inclusive. We know businesses can do it because they have done it.”
