Oct. 31—The Kern Women’s Business Center in Bakersfield has joined forces with the California Department of General Services to help veteran and military spouse small-business owners navigate the path to success in operating a small business.
Veteran and military spouse small-business owners are invited to attend the Veteran Outreach & Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9 at the University of La Verne, 10800 Stockdale Highway, Suite 201, Room 209. This is a free event.
Attendees will receive help in obtaining certification to conduct business with the state of California. Organizers will provide other resources as well.
For example, California Small Business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise application assistance will be available on-site in room 213, the computer lab.
Training topics at this joint event will also include business financing; building a business plan; planning a business start-up; disaster recovery; eCommerce; exporting; government contracting; managing a business; veterans outreach; and woman-owned businesses.
Government agencies and corporations looking to connect with the veteran community are also invited to attend, as are active-duty members transitioning out of the military, military spouses, and all veteran business owners looking to connect and do business with government agencies.
