Port Isabel American Legion encourages residents to support soldiers. Volunteering offers a means to show compassion and selflessness, typically improving the lives of others.
Soldiers’ Angels is a national charity organization dedicated to aiding active military personnel, veterans and their families.
Pattie Patton-Bader founded Soldiers’ Angels. When her oldest son, Staff Sergeant Brandon Var, was deployed in Iraq.
The organization aims to ensure that those who have sacrificed so much for our country receive the help they need. One of Soldiers’ Angels’ main focuses is providing care and comfort to deployed service members.
They do this through their “Angel Teams,” volunteers who correspond with and send care packages to deployed troops. These care packages often contain hygiene items, snacks, and other items to help combat the challenges of being away from home. These small reminders of support can make a significant difference in boosting morale and reminding soldiers that they are appreciated.
Soldiers’ Angels also offer support to veterans through various programs. They have an “Adopt-A-Family” program that pairs volunteers with needy families, providing them with much-needed assistance during the holiday season. These efforts include sending gift cards, toys and household items to ensure these families have a memorable and joyful holiday season.
