Bill Davis Montgomery, Sr. age 94, departed this life, Wednesday, November 16, 2023.

Bill was born, July 10, 1929 in Guntersville, Alabama. He spent most of his life working in the dry-cleaning business over 50 years. He was also a minority business owner from 1960-1984. He served as a Deacon at Payne Ave Baptist Church. He was active in the National Baptist Convention, TBM&E, and Knoxville District Association.

Bill was preceded in the death by parents Leroy Montgomery and Nannie Sue Moore, father-in-law and mother-in-law Julian and Mary L. Barber, brothers: John Montgomery, George Love, James and O.D. Moore, sisters: Nannie B. Montgomery, Alberta (Alvin) Gordon, Ida Mae Watkins. Brother-in-law Paul Barber, Sister-in-laws Laura Earles, JoAnn Jones, Ella Leola Marsette, Elizabeth Smith, daughter-in-law Gail L Montgomery

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his very devoted and loving wife, Mary Katherine Montgomery, sons: Bill, Darrell, Gary (Mary E), Mark (Shelley), Micheal (Arleana), Barry (Karen) Bussell, and Sister Linda (Ossie) Stanley, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 11-12 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 12:00 noon at the Payne Ave. Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Brown officiating.

The final resting place will be held at the New Grey Cemetery immediately following the service. A dove release will conclude in his honor.
