It was on October 3, 2013, when the Union Cabinet approved the creation of the 29 state of India, Telangana. The Bill for the same was passed by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on February 8, 2014. India’s 29 and youngest state Telangana was finally born on July 2, 2014.

Telangana, as a geographical and political entity was born on June 2, 2014 as the 29th and the youngest state in the Union of India. Telangana was separated from Andhra Pradesh primarily due to historical, cultural, and developmental reasons, as well as demands from the people of the region.

Key Reasons Behind The Separation:

Historical And Cultural Differences: Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have separate historical and cultural identities. Telangana, having its unique language, Telugu, exhibits a distinctive dialect and cultural traditions. The residents of Telangana sensed that their distinct identity was not adequately acknowledged or reflected within the broader state of Andhra Pradesh.

Socio-Economic Disparities: Despite its abundant natural resources, Telangana lagged in development when compared to the coastal Andhra region. Telangana inhabitants believed that their region’s developmental requirements were overlooked, leading to socio-economic disparities and an uneven allocation of resources and opportunities.

Demand For Local Control: The demand for separate statehood gained momentum due to the belief that local control and governance would be more effective in addressing the specific needs and aspirations of Telangana. The people of Telangana sought greater autonomy and decision-making power over their own affairs.
