Unilever’s accelerator program announces funding for startups

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 15 – Unilever has announced an accelerator program called TRANSFORM to support enterprises in the country.

Transform aims to develop innovative business models by providing grand funding, business insight, and research to help solve global challenges.

“Some of the best new ideas and ground-breaking solutions are coming from entrepreneurs and start-ups,” said Unilever Chief of Sustainability Rebecca Marmot.

“By blending local innovation with the resources of large organizations, TRANSFORM is unlocking these opportunities, helping to scale workable solutions and drive progress. It’s also helping us to expand our networks,” Marmot added.

“We look forward to supporting more enterprises in the future and being part of this dynamic.”

Unilever has exuded confidence that more organizations will feel inspired to join the TRANSFORM program and help them transform more lives.

Since its launch in Kenya in 2015, TRANSFORM has been working with revolutionary businesses, including supporting start-ups like  ‘Taka taka ni Mali’, which focuses on converting waste products into viable economic resources.

Others include Rwandese Kasha, which seeks to expand health services to Kenya, as well as recycling B Corp. business Mr. Green Africa, which has developed a new model of work for waste pickers, directly improving safety, benefits, and career growth opportunities for more than 1000 people in Kenya.
