Gronk teams up with USAA to present veterans with vehicles

The annual Army-Navy Game featured not only action on the gridiron between West Point and the Naval Academy.

Off the field, former New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski gifted cars to an Army family and a Navy at USAA’s Recycled Rides Gift Giving event on Dec. 11.

“To see the smiles on their faces was great,” said Gronkowski.

U.S. Army Sgt. Robert Trevino received a 2022 Chevy Silverado retrofitted to accommodate his disability. U.S. Navy Petty Officer Kyle Kohlgraf received a 2019 Chevy Blazer.

“This program creates freedom for folks who don’t have mobility otherwise, “ said USAA CEO Wayne Peacock.

Trevino and Kohlgraf were nominated by nonprofits to receive the vehicles that were repaired and donated for those in need through National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides.

“We haven’t had a car for almost two years, so this is life-changing for us,” said Kohlgraf.

Trevino was paralyzed in a car crash. His vehicle was retrofitted to accommodate his disability.

“It means the world,” he said.
