Minneapolis Veterans Home names new Administrator, Director of Nursing


2023-12-15-doug-britainSt. Paul, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs has recently named two new leaders.

Doug Britain was named the new Campus Administrator for the Minnesota Veterans Homes – Minneapolis effective December 6. Razaq (Zaq) Adedayo, DNP, RN, was selected as the new Director of Nursing (DON) for the Minneapolis Veterans Home effective November 8.

Doug has more than 30 years of diverse healthcare and senior living management experience working in Minnesota and throughout the United States (as well as time in China).

He most recently served as the Administrator for one of the largest skilled nursing facilities in Minnesota, Lakehouse Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center (formerly Walker Methodist Health Center). He was responsible for overseeing the entire facility operations including facility managers, direct care staffing, marketing and sales, clinical and services standards, staff training and recruitment, activities and programming, and physical plant and equipment.

Doug holds a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Accounting and Management from Union College. Doug is passionate about caring for Veterans as both his father and brother are Veterans of the U.S. Army.

Razaq AdedayZaq brings a wealth of clinical and leadership experience to the DON role. He served at the Minneapolis Veterans Home as a Nurse Manager for two years and previously held the DON role at several long-term care facilities around the Twin Cities. Over the past 16 years, Zaq has held numerous roles including CNA, RN, Nursing Supervisor, Nurse Manager and DON.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with both a Master’s and Doctor of Nursing degrees, Zaq has practical leadership experience in positively transforming complex healthcare settings to high performing systems. He practices a collaborative and partnership approach to leadership and healthcare delivery.

As the son of a Veteran and a father of a service member, Zaq is committed to improving the lives of Veterans and determined to champion the highest quality of care provided at the Minneapolis Veterans Home.
