We make eligibility criteria easy to understand. Eligibility is based on factors including:
- Whether or not your organization is located in Alberta;
- The type or size of your organization; and
- How far along your project technology is.
We have provided detailed eligibility requirements on each program page and within the associated program guides.
Location
Most programs are open to applicants from organizations and companies that are Alberta-based, with a physical or corporate presence in the province. Some are open to applicants outside the province but need to demonstrate clear value for Alberta.
Organization type
Most programs are open to one or more of the following types of organizations:
- Companies with fewer than 500 employees and less than $50 million annual gross revenue, also known as small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs)
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Post-secondary researchers
- Government and public-sector organizations
Companies larger than 500 employees with significant presence in more than one country are only eligible for limited specialized funding, usually targeted towards areas of strategic interest to Alberta.
