Fellon allegedly fires at officers – San Benito News

On September 27, 2023, at approximately 3:50 p.m., San Benito Police Officers responded to the 200 block of East Stenger Street in San Benito, upon receiving a call of a disturbance at a local business.\

According to a statement by the City of San Benito, a male subject, accused of causing the disturbance, allegedly discharged a firearm several times, which prompted the police response.

The subject was identified as Andres Escobedo, a San Benito resident, according to the statement.
While in the area attempting to locate the suspect, the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District (SBCISD) police reported they were pursuing a black SUV that matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle.

A multi-agency pursuit ensued as the suspect evaded police and while allegedly driving recklessly throughout multiple cities. The city’s statement explains that the pursuit ended shortly thereafter, near Ebony and Fred Leal Drive in rural San Benito.

Escobedo then fled on foot, the statement read, allegedly using a semi-automatic rifle in his possession to fire at multiple responding officers actively in pursuit.

He was located and arrested by responding officers near a residence off of Fred Leal Drive.
